Signs That Say What You Want Them To Say
Mass Observation
I’m not sure if I like Wearing’s photos for her photos, but rather for her how genuine they are. I’m surprised that people wrote down actual personal thoughts because when I went out working for my final project in class, I had to talk to strangers too and I didn’t get a lot of people willing to help. Even if they did help, some seemed still unwilling to help. I enjoy the truth in her photos and that is what captures me, especially the ones I posted. Her mask project is interesting because it deals with self identity and she uses masks of herself and takes self-portraits. I think the process is interesting because she gets custom made mask that represent herself from the present and past.

“Gentleman #20” from Untitled Gentlemen (2008)
Erica Allen
We went to the Museum of Contemporary Photography last week and print viewed 4 artists. I had mixed feelings on the pieces we saw, I thought some of the stuff we saw was good. I saw work that seemed like contemporary color “Ansel Adams nature photography” which was really interesting to see presented in a museum because I am so use to seeing nature photography on flickr, tumblr, facebook, etc. It was interesting to see other people’s views on that genre of photography and to see if that type of photography is still appreciated.
